The Weirdest Airport in the World: Denver International Airport

One of the murals at DIA, depicting a soldier with a gas mask killing a white dove while women and children lay dying.
Ever since its opening, Denver International Airport has been the subject of a lot of controversy. And looking at these pictures taken at DIA, it is not hard to see why. For starters, in front of the airport stands a 32 foot sculpture of a demonic horse. The locals have given it the name Blucifer. Apart from its menacing looks, its history is equally scary. According his Wikipedia article, the creator of Blucifer was killed during its construction when a part of the sculpture fell on him.
Although creepy, being crushed to death is a risk one must be willing to take when creating a 32 foot demon horse. Inside the airport is where it gets really weird. This is where travellers will find a collection of murals that seem completely out of place in an airport.
Horrified children, a dead Native American woman and a city burning in the background.
Apart from being completely inappropriate for an airport, these murals are some real nightmare fuel. Depictions of death and violence and a Nazi like soldier with a gas mask. Hardly something one would like to see after a long flight.
The children seem to have beaten the Nazi Gas Mask Soldier. Which is a good thing, I guess.
But the controversy does not stop at the questionable artistic contributions to the airport. According to the building plans, there is an enormous bunker underneath the airport, the use of which is unknown to the public. Throw in some freemason and illuminati symbolism that is spread around DIA and you've got enough material to keep conspiracy theorist busy for the next few decades.
New world order conspiracy or just bad taste in interior decorating? Either way, Denver International Airport has earned its name as the weirdest airport in the world.
Welcome to Denver, the home of the demon gargoyle!
